YOU ARE LISTENING 8:30 Newfoundland (2009) FULL Album by MIKE PLUME BAND * enJoy

8:30 Newfoundland
Recorded from May 2008 through March 2009 in Nashville, Tennessee. Released in June 2009 Produced by Brent Maher and Charles Yingling.

Jenny, Ruby and I moved back to Tennessee in August of 2006. Jenny had a job as a music therapist and I had a gig writing songs for a living again. I moved back to Tennessee with the sole purpose of having someone else record my songs. That way I could stay home, write songs, walk my daughter to school… you know, live the life. One day in December 2006 I started writing a song with Jason McCoy. We wrote the first verse and never bothered with it again. Anyway, a year later, I found myself in the familiar situation of having no luck getting my songs recorded. I then found myself dreaded position of losing my job as a songwriter or at least losing my paycheck. I was once again at loose ends. Forty years old and not sure what to do with my life. Then I finished the song that I had started with McCoy. I called it “8:30 Newfoundland”. This song was different. This one felt like something special. Then the idea of doing a new album came around. Then the thought came up that maybe I should get the band back together and record one more album for the hell of it. Then I started writing songs that felt like songs that only we could, would and should do. So we did. It was great to be in the same room with the guys again. It was great to count that first song in and just let it flow. We all felt it.

Mike Plume Band - Steel Belted Radio (2000 EP)
Country-rock AOR

Steel Belted Radio EP Recorded in November of 1998 in Edmonton, Alberta Additional recording in July of 2000 in Edmonton, Alberta Released in August of 2000 Produced by MP
In November of ’98 we went in the studio to record some new songs I’d been working on. “Song And Dance, Man” had been out for about a year and it was about time to start thinking about a new album, or so I thought. As luck would have it the “Song And Dance, Man” tour ended up running over 3 years and about 750 shows. Somehow time got away from us and the next thing I knew it was mid 2000 and we still didn’t have an album of new material. I had all the songs from the “Steel Belted” sessions in ’98 and the song “Steel Belted Radio” had turned into a fan favourite at shows though it wasn’t available on disc yet. But over the preceding year and a half I had written another album of new material and I was really excited about these new songs and couldn’t imagine putting the songs from the “Steel Belted” sessions on the new album. They just didn’t have the same “Je ne sais quoi”. But I didn’t want to let those “Steel Belted” songs die on the vine and the thought of going 3 and half or 4 years between releases made me ill. So I decided to go in the studio and finish up or “polish up” what we’d started back in November of ’98. We put out the album in August of 2000 and it bought us some time to work on the new album not too mention gave us something new to sell at shows.
